So much has happened between my last post and this one (in fact, those are the reasons for my not touching this blog for a long time).
In a nutshell:
RahXephon is an anime from 2002 which has some things going for it, and also some things going against it, mainly the required comparison to Neon Genesis Evangelion. Another aspect of the series that will require mention and discussion is the use of sound and music in the series, which quite overpowers the series in its beginning, but thankfully its part and vehemence grows smaller as it goes on.
This is a “Things I Like” post, and as such, it’s not a review per-se, but my thoughts on the series. Spoilers should come as no surprise, but this post will have quite a few spoilers.
Let’s begin with music. The series definitely puts a lot of emphasis on music, with the dolems (basically golems, a mecha variety) use sonic attacks, which are basically singing, and are named with names such as “Allegreto”, “Fortissimo“, and other terms from the musical world. In fact, the show’s version of “The Instrumentality Project” is “Tuning the world”, and those who pilot mecha such as the titular RahXephon are “Instrumentalists”.
Sadly, in the beginning of the series, the music does not supplement the action, but overpowers it. The sound is strong, always present, and rather than highlight the action, it becomes the focus. I found it especially jarring in the bizzare dream sequence in one episode, with the totally funky jazz music (or the jazz during the fight in episode 20). Luckily, as the series went on, the music had become not only more subdued (in both volume and beat), but it more and more supplemented what was going on in the show, and we’d seen more and more of repeated tunes, which are less noticeable on a conscious level as something that should divert our attention from the series.
Here is a very nice scene from episode 19, where someone dies. It is spoiler-tastic, but I love it. The choreography and directing of this scene are quite brilliant, with each strike in the fight releasing a wave of light that carries a message, and the sound… it is also quite a tear-wrenching scene, especially if you’ve actually watched the show.
If you’re wondering at the strange voice (and slight lisp) of Ayato’s mother (Ayato is the main character of the series), Maya Kamina, it’s because the seiyu is Ichiko Hashimoto who composed the soundtrack of the series, and is not actually a professional voice actress, but a professional musician.The OP of the series is quite interesting, music-wise, even if it’s nothing truly special. It also shows that in animation wise, the series is quite nice, but it’s not as sharp as what I’m mostly used to these days. It’s more like Visions of Escaflowne and other late 90s series that are.. not as sharp. The last few seconds of the OP with the two faces traveling across the screen also make me think of the OP of Visions of Escaflowne. That last bit would also be something you’ll understand differently after watching the series to its conclusion.
Something else that somewhat bothers me with the animation of the series is the heavy use of yellow in the palette. Blue also shows up quite often, but with so much blue, the feeling of the series is slightly surreal and sickish. Or maybe it’s just my aesthetic (over-)sensibilities.
I’m pretty sure the ending is sung by Ichiko Hashimoto. It’s the regular much more quiet and subdued as endings often are. It also fits the theme of the series much more, though rather than talk directly of the series, it speaks more of music. It has some beautiful bits, like when we see Quon, and hear “Ah, RahXephon”. For those curious, it seems the dubbed version of the song is sung by the same singer (and if not, it’s a damn good impersonation), and can be found here, so you can also understand the lyrics. You can also hear the almost lisp I spoke of earlier.
Now we’re going to discuss what the series did right, and what the series did wrong:
What the series did right were the characters and their interpersonal relationships. We have a full cast of characters, that even if they do immoral things, and even if they are hurtful and vengeful, above all else, they’re human. They’re all people we can relate to, sympathize with, and care about. A relatively large cast, but aside from each of these characters being done well, their relationships are intricate and believeable.
The voice cast is more than up to the job, and features more than a few known names, which I’m sure you’ll recognize if you’ll listen to the series, and a couple you probably won’t recognize by sound alone, such as the actress of Haruka’s sister, Megumi. Haruka is the main female character of the series, in more ways than one as you’ll find out.
What the series didn’t do right were the conspiracy and mystical background. The series begins and not only do we not know what is going on, we become more bewildered as the protagonist fights the wrong side, talks to someone that may not be there, etc. The time spent on conspiracy is small compared to the time spent on the interpersonal relationships, but even that not too large amount of time is to the show’s detriment.
We have real life mythologies and occultism thrown in, Mu is a pre-historic culture (ala Atlantis) discussed by, or invented by James Churchward, who’s actually mentioned in an easy-missable bit in the series, we get to hear sentences such as “Ollin, you’ll achieve Ixtli in Yolteotl, your true heart,” and in case you’re wondering, Ollin, which is how Ayato is referred to by the Mulians, the alternate-dimension aliens who invaded our world, refers to Ollin Tonatiuh, a Sun God, and if you know anything about your western mythology, you should recognize “Rah” as the Egyptian Sun God. Even the sentence in the final segments of the series, “The obsidian butterfly finds a song in the cerulean forest,” is but a reference to mesoamerican mythology.
Not only that, do you remember River from Firefly, and how indecipherable some of what she said used to be? Quon for much of the series is like that, a (hot, nice) girl who speaks what appears to be nonsense, and is almost a prophet to those of us who watch from beyond the fourth wall. It also appears that she speaks in riddles and half-nonsense in order to keep things “interesting”.
This is where we get into our comparison, even if short, to Neon Genesis Evangelion. In NGE, we had a grace period where we didn’t really see anything was up, and then we got hit by a mystical “Bang!” to the face, had time to digest it, and then the next bang. As time passed by, the time we had to digest between such “Bangs!” grew shorter and shorter, which caused not a small amount of people to grow exasperated.
In RahXephon, we get to hear things from the first and second episode, and rather than answer them or even drop hints as to their answers, for most of the series we keep meeting the same questions again and again, in case we’ll forget them. Answers, to what is actually answered, are given in the last few episodes, and even these are not enough. The answers provided truly are enough, but that’s the problem. A lot of what is said is pseudo-mystical techno-babble. It isn’t really technological, but you know what I mean. Many of the “explanations” which we receive do not truly answer what they purport to answer, and only open dozens more questions, because they make use of other terms and ideas which weren’t truly explained.
Likewise, if we truly compare to NGE, we get our “Adam and Eve” battle, we have a “Body of light” with wings which reach to the heavens, you get to see in the OP above a landscape littered with red crossed (and another Escher-like landscape filled with clocks), and so on and so forth. And it is my stance that whenever the comparison is made, it is to the detriment of RahXephon. Perhaps because NGE came before, but in most conspiracy cases, even if we feel RahXephon has more internal logic, it is also much more obscured from us.
Score: 7.2/10.
Synopsis: The personal relationships were well done, the characters were believeable and intricate, and I enjoyed watching them. That scene above is one of the most well done in my memory. The conspiracy and mythology in the series is quite opaque, and is detrimental to the series. Luckily, the role of the relationships is much larger (and this also explains why “so little” occurs for much of the series, because the focus is on characters rather than events). The animation is nice, but I’d have liked it to be crisper, and less yellow-centric.
Bijuu(尾獣) adalah makhluk-makhluk legenda dari mitologi Jepang. Kebanyakan dari mereka bertubuh besar dan berkekuatan menakjubkan. Mereka tersebar di seluruh daerah Jepang. Kekuatan chakra/stamina mereka diklasifikasikan melalui banyaknya jumlah ekor mereka. Seperti Shukaku si ekor satu memiliki kapasitas chakra terendah dari semua bijuu. Tidak semua bijuu bertubuh besar. Seperti Kaku, si luak berekor tujuh yang ukuran tubuhnya tidak terlalu besar. Bijuu dengan ukuran kolosal adalah Yamata no Orochi yang besarnya melebihi tujuh buah gunung. Ini dikarenakan kekuatan Kusanagi no Tsurugi yang sangat besar.
Para bijuu ini hanyalah mitos yang ada di Jepang. Kabarnya roh-roh mereka disegel di 9 kuil di Jepang. Para bijuu ini juga ada mahluk yang setengah dewa maupun peliharaan dewa. Raijuu dulunya adalah dewa sebelum kekuatan kegelapan Yamata no Orochi membuatnya menjadi monster. Nekomata juga adalah peliharaan dewa kematian.
Partisipan peperangan ini adalah semua Bijuu yang ada dalam mitologi Jepang. Mereka semua akhirnya tersegel dalam kuil-kuil yang tersebar di seluruh Jepang. Berikut ini adalah daftar Bijuu yang mengikuti perang ini:
1.Shukaku (尾 | 守鶴) adalah nama salah satu Bijuu yang ada di Naruto. Shukaku berbentuk seekor rakun atau Tanuki dalam Bahasa Jepang. Dulunya Shukaku adalah seorang pendeta dari Nara yang berubah menjadi monster karena kekuatan Yamata no Orochi. Dia lalu berubah menjadi rakun raksasa. Kepribadiannya sangatlah konyol dan senang bermain-main, sama seperti rakun pada umumnya. Dia hidup dari jiwa orang-orang yang mati karena pasir dan angin. Tato ungu (biru di Naruto) miliknya menandakan julukannya sebagai dewa angin.
2.Nekomata (二尾 | 貓又) adalah sebuah makhluk dari cerita mitologi Jepang, dipercaya sebagai sebuah metamorfosis dari kucing peliharaan. Ia berasal dari Hutan Kematian di utara Hokkaido dan konon pertama kali ditemukan di Hutan Iblis Hokkaido, ia berasal dari Hutan Kematian (berbeda dengan hutan iblis) di utara Hokkaido. Bentuknya berupa monster kucing hitam raksasa, yang terkadang ditampilkan dengan dua sayap malaikat berwarna hitam yang besar. Dia adalah peliharaan Dewa Kematian. Nekomata hidup dari memakan mayat dan jiwa-jiwa orang mati.Dalam dunia Naruto, Nekomata digambarkan seperti iblis api berbentuk kucing raksasa, bertaring besar dan memiliki dua ekor. Dia disegel dalam tubuh Yugito, seorang Kunoichi dari Kumogakure. Dia mengatakan bahwa dia adalah ninja terkuat kedua disana.
3.Isonade (三尾 | 磯憮) adalah sebuah makhluk dari cerita mitologi Jepang, berbentuk seperti hiu dengan tanduk di kepalanya serta memiliki tiga buah ekor dan tiga buah sirip, ia juga mampu mengendalikan air sesuai dengan keinginannya. Ia pertama kali ditemukan di perairan Yamagawa dan hidup di kedalaman perairan Jepang bagian barat. Setiap beberapa bulan dia akan keluar ke permukaan untuk menghirup udara. Ketika dia melakukan hal ini dia akan menimbulkan badai dan ombak di perairan sekitarnya, semua kapal didekatnya akan tenggelam dan kemudian dijadikan makanan oleh Isonade. Dia juga sering menyerang kapal-kapal yang berlayar di lautan bebas.Isonade memiliki bawahan bernama samehada yang hidup di dalam perut Isonade dan membantu menambah chakranya hingga lima kali besar. Makanan samehada berasal dari sisa makanan yang dimakan Isonade4.Sokou. Sokou bertarung 4 kali, 3 kekalahan oleh Shukaku, Kaku dan Hokou. Sokou melarikan diri ketika berhadapan dengan Raijuu. Sokou memiliki kekuatan fisik terlemah diantara Bijuu. Tingkat chakra/stamina miliknya peringkat ke-6.
4.Sokou si ekor empat (四尾 | 鼠鮫) adalah sebuah makhluk dari cerita mitologi Jepang, berbentuk siput-setengah-ular yang konon tinggal di gunung Fuji, Jepang. Sokou memiliki empat buah ekor dan menyebarkan gas beracun disekitar tubuhnya. Awalnya, Sokou adalah ayam jantan dan ular yang menjalin kasih. Namun akibat pengaruh udara dan racun di pegunungan, kedua hewan itu menyatu dan menjadi besar. Karena berbahaya, seorang ahli ilmu iblis bernama Yamazaki Ishiro menyegel Sokou ke dalam alat dewa Kandang Bulan Berjaring di dasar gunung Fuji, Jepang. Hingga saat ini, beberapa orang masih beranggapan bahwa letusan di gunung Fuji disebabkan oleh dengkuran Sokou ketika sedang tidur.
5. Hokou (五尾 | 彭侯) adalah Bijuu yang berupa seperti anjing berekor lima. Setiap ekor makhluk ini merepresentasikan setiap-tiap kekuatan elemental: Api, Angin, Air, Tanah, dan Petir. Itu bisa mengakibatkan kerusakan dahsyat bila digunakan. Kemampuannya ialah menggunakan semua elemen maupun mengkombinasikannya. Setiap elemennya juga bisa menyebabkan bencana tergantung jenisnya. Hokou bermaksud menghancurkan alam untuk mendapatkan kembali lima elemen ini. Dia mengalami cedera berat ketika menantang Kyuubi berdua dengan Nekomata. Cukup aneh, dia adalah dewa ilusi. Hokou hidup di pohon besar yang sudah berumur panjang.
6.Raijuu (雷獣?) adalah Bijuu yang yang berbentuk seperti berang-berang, mempunyai 4 kaki dan kuku yang amat tajam. Bila meraung seperti guntur. Aslinya, dia adalah dewa petir, tetapi karena pengaruh kekuatan Yamata no Orochi dia berubah menjadi monster. Raijuu bisa mengeluarkan listrik dalam jumlah besar untuk keperluan pertarungan. Bulunya berwarna emas dan ujungnya berdiri. Memiliki enam ekor yang bentuknya seperti petir, seperti dewa petir kuno.
7.Kaku ( 七尾 | 貉 ) bisa juga dibaca sebagai “mujina” adalah Bijuu berbentuk tupai. Kanjinya juga bisa dibaca sebagai Mujina, yaitu nama subspesies dari tupai (Meles Meles Anaguma) yang ada di beberapa tempat di Jepang. Dia berasal dari altar pengorbanan di pinggiran Nagoya. Kaku mempunyai tujuh ekor dan yang terkecil diantara para Bijuu, walaupun begitu dia adalah Bijuu terlicik dan paling “penyusup” dari sembilan Bijuu lainnya. Kaku memburu mangsanya dari dalam tanah sepanjang waktu. Dia membunuh dengan melongsorkan/menghancurkan bagian tanah dibawah mangsanya, membuatnya jatuh tepat di mulutnya yang sudah terbuka lebar. Di atas tanah, dia bisa berubah menjadi apa saja, asalkan dia mempunyai tanah liat. Tubuhnya berwarna biru.
8.Yamata no Orochi adalah Bijuu berbentuk ular. Dia memiliki mata berwarna merah darah, delapan ekor dan kepala (juga digambarkan dililit oleh akar belukar dan semak) dan memiliki kekuatan dari dunia iblis, simbol kejahatan. Setiap kepala Orochi melambangkan simbol: jiwa, hantu, kejahatan, iblis, dunia setelah kematian, dan kematian. Kekuatan sebenarnya dari Orochi seharusnya tidak terlalu besar, bahkan cenderung lemah. Panjang tubuhnya melebihi besar 8 gunung, dia adalah bijuu yang terbesar. Aslinya, dia lebih lemah dari Hokou dan Nekomata. kabarnya yamata no orochi disegel dalam tubuh orochimaru. ia sebenarnya sudah hampir diambil oleh aktsuki,tetapi karena kekuatannya akatsuki gagal mengambilnya dan orochimaru pun keluar dari organisasi itu.
9.Kyuubi (九尾 九尾の妖狐?) merupakan Bijuu dengan bentuk rubah berekor sembilan dan merupakan yang terkuat diantara para Bijuu. Alasan kenapa dia sangat kuat amat sederhana: dia mempunyai chakra yang tidak terbatas, membuatnya pantas menyandang nama “Raja para Bijuu”. Kekuatannya berasal dari segel api miliknya. Setelah bertarung selama 100 tahun dengan Yamata no Orochi, segel itu menjadi kelelahan; tetapi Kyuubi masih bisa bertahan dan berdiri. Dia juga licik dan cerdas. Dalam dunia Naruto, cara berbicaranya sangat sadistis dan sarkastik. Begitu pula kelakuannya. Ekornya mengeluarkan pusaran angin dengan cara diputar dengan cepat, dan Kyuubi mampu merobek musuhnya dengan cakar raksasa miliknya. Bulu-bulunya bisa mengeluarkan bola api seperti meteor yang tak pernah habis, cukup untuk menghancurkan sebuah desa dengan cepat. Dalam peperangan 9 dewa, Hokou mengalami cedera parah, dan Nekomata hampir mati; bila tidak ditolong dewa kematian karena berani menantang Kyuubi. Yamata no Orochi bergantung pada Kusanagi no Tsurugi, pedang klan Kusanagi untuk mengalahkan Kyuubi, tetapi bisa dikalahkan dan mata pedang dari pedang tersebut menjadi retak. Padahal Sarutobi sasuke, si ninja legendaris dan Enma si raja monyet tidak bisa menimbulkan goresan sedikitpun pada Kusanagi. Ini menggambarkan kekuatan Kyuubi yang luar biasa.
Konoha memiliki lima Hokage (火影 ?) sejak Hokage Pertama mendirikan desa Konoha. Para Hokage pada umumnya adalah pemimpin desa dan ninja terkuat Konoha. Hokage berasal dari kata ho yang berarti api dan kage yang berarti bayangan. Jadi hokage dapat berarti “bayangan api.”
Hashirama Senju
Dalam seri manga dan anime Naruto, Hashirama Senju (千手柱間 ,Senju Hashirama?), yang bergelar Hokage Pertama (初代火影 ,Shodaime Hokage?), adalah pendiri Konohagakure, sebuah desa fiktif kediaman para ninja. Hashirama merupakan kakak Tobirama Senju, Hokage (ninja terkuat) kedua di Konohagakure, dan juga merupakan kakek Tsunade (Hokage kelima Konohagakure) dan Nawaki.
Diceritakan bahwa Hashirama dihormati sebagai ninja yang paling ditakuti pada masanya. Ia amat dihormati dan bahkan saingannya sendiri, Madara Uchiha, menghormati kekuatannya. Hanya ada satu orang yang mampu menghadapinya, dan hanya ada satu klan yang mampu menghadapi klannya, yaitu Madara Uchiha dan klan Uchiha.
Pada awalnya Hashirama merupakan pemimpin klan Senju. Selama masa peperangan pertama, klan Senju dihormati sebagai salah satu dari dua klan terkuat di dunia, menyaingi klan Uchiha. Oleh sebab itu, klan Senju sering bertikai dengan klan Uchiha dan Hashirama sendiri sering melawan Madara Uchiha secara pribadi. Karena lelah dengan pertikaian, Hashirama dan klannya mendatangi klan Uchiha untuk mengajukan perdamaian. Setelah bersekutu dengan klan Uchiha, kedua kelompok tersebut mendirikan Konohagakure yang berkembang menjadi salah satu dari lima negara shinobi terbesar.
Kemudian, Madara meninggalkan Konoha setelah ia mengambil mata adiknya sendiri. Konflik tersebut mengakibatkan pertarungan antara Hashirama dan Madara di Lembah Akhir. Pertarungan tersebut dimenangkan oleh Hashirama. Untuk mengenang pertarungan tersebut, didirikan patung Hashirama dan Madara di Lembah Akhir. Kedua patung tersebut berdiri mengapit air terjun sambil berhadap-hadapan.
Bagaimanapun juga masa perang masih berlanjut, dan sambil memikirkan masa depan Konoha, Hashirama dan adiknya, Tobirama Senju, melatih Hiruzen Sarutobi, Hokage Konoha di masa depan.
Hashirama dan adiknya dibangkitkan dari kematian oleh Orochimaru (tokoh antagonis cerita Naruto) untuk menghadapi Hokage ketiga (Hiruzen Sarutobi) selama masa penyerbuannya ke Konoha. Saat terbangun dari kematiannya, Hashirama dipaksa oleh Orochimaru agar menyerang Hokage ketiga, muridnya sendiri. Bersama dengan adiknya, Hashirama mengkombinasikan serangan untuk mengalahkan Hokage ketiga. Hal itu memaksa Hokage ketiga untuk memunculkan Enma, hewan panggilan berwujud kera. Hewan tersebut membantu Hokage ketiga selama menghadapi Hashirama, sampai akhirnya Hokage ketiga memutuskan untuk mengeluarkan jurus memanggil Dewa Kematian agar jiwa Hashirama dan adiknya kembali ke alam baka. Sebelum jiwa Hashirama dan adiknya masuk alam baka untuk selamanya, mereka meminta maaf kepada Hokage ketiga atas masalah yang telah mereka lakukan.
Diceritakan bahwa Orochimaru telah mengimplantasi DNA Hashirama kepada enam puluh subjek. Salah satu subjeknya bernama Tenzo (kemudian berganti nama menjadi Yamato). Namun, hampir seluruh subjeknya meninggal dan Orochimaru tidak menyadari bahwa ada satu orang yang selamat, yaitu Tenzo (Naruto masih memangilnya dengan nama Yamato).
Tobirama Senju
Dalam seri manga dan anime Naruto, Tobirama Senju (千手扉間 ,Senju Tobirama?), yang bergelar sebagai Hokage Kedua (二代目火影 ,Nidaime Hokage?), adalah adik Hashirama Senju, Hokage Pertama. Tobirama merupakan anggota klan Senju. Ia bergelar Hokage, gelar bagi ninja terkuat di Konohagakure, sebuah desa fiktif kediaman para ninja. Tobirama dan kakaknya merupakan guru bagi Hiruzen Sarutobi, Hokage Ketiga.
Diceritakan bahwa pada zaman peperangan, klan Senju sering bertikai dengan klan Uchiha. Karena merasa pertikaian tersebut tak akan berujung, Hashirama, pemimpin klan Senju, mengajukan perdamaian pada klan Uchiha. Perdamaian itu enggan diterima oleh Madara, pemimpin klan Uchiha. Namun karena didesak oleh orang-orang penting di klannya, Madara setuju untuk berdamai dengan klan Senju. Kemudian klan Senju dan Uchiha mendirikan desa Konoha (Konohagakure), dimana pemimpin desa tersebut diberi gelar Hokage. Untuk yang pertama kali, gelar tersebut diberikan pada Hashirama, kakak Tobirama.
Pada masa tersebut, Tobirama melatih tiga orang yang dipilihnya sendiri, disebut Tim Tobirama yang anggotanya adalah Hiruzen Sarutobi (Hokage Ketiga), Homura Mitokado dan Koharu Utatane (dua orang tersebut menjadi penasihat di Konoha).
Setelah menjadi Hokage, Tobirama memberi posisi istimewa kepada klan Uchiha sebagai tanda kepercayaannya pada klan tersebut. Ia memberi kuasa kepemimpinan atas Polisi Militer Konoha pada klan tersebut. Namun menurut Madara Uchiha, hal tersebut hanya kedok semata, dan tujuan sebenarnya hanya untuk menjauhkan klan Uchiha dari pemerintahan Konoha, dan menempatkan klan tersebut di bawah pengawasan ketat pasukan ANBU.
Hiruzen Sarutobi
Hiruzen Sarutobi (猿飛ヒルゼン ,Sarutobi Hiruzen?), yang bergelar sebagai Hokage ke-3, adalah karakter fiksi dari anime dan manga Naruto. Nama keluarganya terinspirasi dari nama Sarutobi Sasuke. Sarutobi berarti “Melompat seperti monyet,” dan hewan panggilan tokoh ini adalah seekor monyet.
Masashi Kishimoto, pengarang komik ini, awalnya merencanakan gelar Hokage ke-3 diberikan kepada seekor anjing, tetapi rencana ini dibatalkan karena dianggap terlalu aneh. Banyak aspek dalam karakter ini yang mirip dengan cerita klasik “Perjalanan ke Barat” dari Tiongkok (Xi Hu Chuan); monyet yang ia panggil sangat mirip sekali dengan Sun Gokong, tokoh protagonis dari cerita tersebut, dan senjata utama Sarutobi mirip dengan tongkat sakti mirip Sun Gokong.
Sarutobi adalah murid dari Hokage ke-2. Dia bersama dua orang temannya menjadi bimbingan Hokage ke-2. Setelah dewasa, dia membimbing tiga orang anak yang akan menjadi Sannin legendaris, yaitu Tsunade, Jiraiya, dan Orochimaru.
Sarutobi adalah Hokage ke-3 di Konoha. Perawakannya seperti kakek-kakek seperti pada umumnya. Rambutnya yang mencuat ke atas mirip seperti anaknya, Asuma dan cucunya, Konohamaru. Matanya agak sipit dan bola matanya berwarna hitam. Dia tidak memiliki kumis, tetapi memiliki sejumput janggut. Kemiripannya dengan Asuma bisa dilihat apabila dia melepas capingnya. Penampilannya sehari-hari sangat khas. Dengan jubah putih dan caping, dia bisa dikenali dengan mudah. Dia juga sering diperlihatkan menghisap cerutu. Kalau dibutuhkan, dia akan menggunakan jubah tempurnya, yang menyerupai baju zirah samurai tetapi tanpa pelindung dada.
Sarutobi adalah seorang hokage yang tangguh. Pada masa muda, dia juga menjadi guru bagi Jiraiya, Tsunade dan Orochimaru. Salah satu muridnya pun telah menjadi seorang Hokage, yaitu Tsunade. Sarutobi disebut juga sebagai profesor di dunia ninja karena bisa menggunakan semua jutsu yang ada di konoha.
Disini dia muncul pertama kali ketika para Jonin pembimbing datang dan merekomendasikan pilihan mereka untuk mengikuti ujian. Dia kembali muncul ketika diadakan pengundian babak utama. Terakhir kemunculannya adalah ketika Orochimaru menyanderanya. Sarutobi lalu melawan Orochimaru dengan gigih. Mereka berdua mengeluarkan kemampuan masing-masing. Ditengah-tengah pertarungan, Orochimaru mengeluarkan jutsu terlarang dan memanggil arwah hokage pertama dan kedua dan menggunakan mereka untuk melawan Sarutobi. Akhirnya Sarutobi mengeluarkan jutsu terlarang yaitu Fuin jutsu Shikifujin dan mengorbankan dirinya untuk membunuh Orochimaru. Tetapi sayang, jutsu itu hanya “mengambil” tangannya, dan tidak sempat membunuh orochimaru.
Selanjutnya Sarutobi hanya muncul di kisah kilas balik saja, sebab ia diceritakan sebagai tokoh yang sudah wafat.
Minato Namikaze
Dalam serial manga dan anime Naruto, Minato Namikaze (波風ミナト ,Namikaze Minato?), juga dikenal sebagai Hokage Keempat (四代目火影 ,Yondaime Hokage?) alias Yondaime, adalah seorang ninja yang telah menyegel siluman rubah berekor sembilan kedalam tubuh anaknya, Naruto Uzumaki. Setelah melakukan penyegelan dan meyakinkan penduduk agar tidak menganggap Naruto sebagai monster melainkan sebagai pahlawan, Minato meninggal akibat efek samping dari jurus tersebut.
Minato digambarkan sangat mirip dengan anaknya, dan mereka memiliki sejumlah hubungan dan persamaan. Minato bersama dua orang genin yang tidak dikenal adalah murid dari Jiraiya. Ia juga merupakan guru dari Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin. Minato Namikaze memiliki seorang istri bernama Kushina Uzumaki dan seorang putra bernama Naruto. Nama Naruto mengikuti nama keluarga ibunya, yaitu ‘Uzumaki’.
Dikatakan bahwa Minato merupakan ninja terhebat yang dihasilkan Konoha, dengan bakat alami yang sangat jarang. Minato menciptakan beberapa teknik istimewa, termasuk Hiraishin no Jutsu (飛雷神の術 ?) yang bisa membuatnya tiba di lokasi manapun secara cepat, dengan menggunakan segel khusus, atau jutsu-shiki (術式 ?). Dengan menggabungkan segel kedalam sebuah kunai atau musuh, Minato dapat berpindah tempat ke lokasi segel tanpa menarik perhatian. Kemampuan ini membuatnya dijuluki sebagai “Konoha’s Yellow Flash” (木ノ葉の黄色い閃光 ,Konoha no Kīroi Senkō?) atau Si Kilat Kuning dari Konoha.
Minato merupakan pencipta Rasengan, sebuah teknik yang tidak memerlukan segel tangan, tetapi menggunakan pusaran cakra yang terkonsentrasi dalam genggaman tangan yang mengakibatkan kerusakan yang luar biasa ke korbannya.
Tsunade
Tsunade adalah karakter fiksi dari anime dan manga Naruto. Ia adalah cucu dari Hokage Pertama, keponakan dari Hokage Kedua, dan kunoichi dari tiga sennin legendaris dan sekarang dikenal sebagai Hokage Kelima. Tsunade adalah seorang ninja medis dan juga “penjinak siput”. Perlu diketahui bahwa Tsunade adalah Hokage sekaligus Kage wanita pertama di seluruh dunia.
Nama Jiraiya, Tsunade dan Orochimaru berasal dari cerita kuno Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari (児雷也豪傑物語, “Legenda Jiraiya yang pemberani”) dari literatur Jepang. Pada cerita itu, Jiraiya dan Tsunade adalah sepasang suami istri. Nama “Tsunade” (綱手) sendiri berarti “menambatkan tali”.
Kata “Hime” (姫, “Putri”) ditambahkan kedalam nama Tsunade, konon disebabkan karena dia adalah cucu dari Hokage Pertama. Bagaimanapun, alasan utama orang memanggilnya dengan sebutan putri disebabkan rasa segan dan takut mereka terhadapnya, atau mungkin juga sebutan itu digunakan untuk “menjilat” Tsunade yang terkenal. Tsunade terkenal dengan dadanya yang besar, kekuatannya yang mengerikan, dan hatinya yang lembut.
Tsunade bisa dikenali dari wajahnya yang relatif cantik berumur 50-an, berambut pirang, dan berdada sangat besar. Biasa memakai kimono dan celana panjang. Kepribadiannya bisa amat buruk dan judes, sama seperti Sakura. Menurut informasi yang dihimpun Jiraiya, terkadang dia merubah wujudnya menjadi wanita setengah baya, nenek-nenek renta, bahkan seorang gadis berumur 14 tahun untuk menghindari penagih hutang yang tidak bisa dibayarnya karena selalu kalah dalam judi. Tsunade memiliki segel bayangan di dahinya untuk menyimpan chakra yang digunakan pada saat-saat kritis. Tsunade juga terkadang suka memanfaatkan bawahannya setelah menjadi hokage, walaupun tidak keterlaluan (tapi kadang kadang bisa keterlaluan juga kalau Tsunade marah). Tsunade juga takut akan darah karena kenangan buruk di masa lalunya.
Kemampuan Tsunade sebagai ninja medis maupun petarung sudah tidak diragukan lagi. Kemampuan medis dan kecerdasannya yang mengagumkan, seperti kemampuannya untuk melakukan regenrasi dengan segel bayangan. Kekuatan fisiknya amat mengerikan. Kabuto menggambarkannya sebagai “Sekali kena maka habis sudah”. Dengan satu jari bisa membelah tanah, tendangannya menghancurkan daerah sekitarnya, bahkan menggunakan pisau milik gamabunta yang panjangnya 10-15 kali besar tubuhnya. Dia juga bisa menggunakan Kuchiyose berupa siput. Sewaktu kanak-kanak, jiraiya pernah dipukul olehnya dan terpental sampai 100 m. Tidak ada yang selamat jika sudah mengenai pukulan Tsunade. Menurut cerita yang diceritakan Yamato kepada Naruto,Jiraiya pernah hampir kehilangan nyawanya. 6 tulang rusuk patah akibat dipukul sekuat tenaga oleh Tsunade, penyebabnya karena Jiraiya bermaksud untuk mengintip pemandian wanita. Semua kemampuan Tsunade diturunkan kepada Sakura, yang menurt Jiraiya adalah pewaris tenaga Tsunade alias Tsunade Ke-dua. Demikian pula Tsunade, yang menganggap kalau Naruto adalah Jiraiya Ke-dua. Mereka juga yakin Sasuke itu pewaris tenaga Orochimaru.
Kemunculan pertamanya sebagai tokoh dalam naruto berawal disini. Ketika sedang berwisata, dia didatangi oleh orochimaru untuk kembali menghidupkan adik dan kekasihnya. Tsunade diberi waktu 1 minggu untuk memikirkannya. Naruto dan Jiraiya kemudian bertemu dengannya, setelah pertemuan dengan Orochimaru. Dia lalu berkata sangat kasar tentang Konoha dan para hokage pendahulunya. Naruto yang panas menantangnya bertarung. Naruto kalah telak dan diberi waktu 1 minggu oleh Tsunade untuk menyempurnakan Rasengan. Sebagai taruhannya, dia mempertaruhkan kalung warisan hokage pertama. Kemudian Jiraiya mengajaknya minum-minum, tetapi dengan cerdik dia berhasil memberi racun pada sake Jiraiya. Jiraiya yang kepayahan meminta pertolongan pada Naruto dan Shizune. Tsunade menemui Orochimaru, dan menolak tawarannya setelah hatinya tergerak oleh tekad Naruto. Tsunade dan Jiraiya lalu bertarung melawan Orochimaru dan Kabuto. Tsunade yang phobia darah hanya bisa diam dan dihajar oleh Kabuto. Dia mati-matian melindungi naruto. Disaat kritis dia diselamatkan naruto dengan rasengan yang telah sempurna dalam waktu hanya seminggu. Setelah pertarungan usai, Tsunade mati-matian menyembuhkan naruto, dan berhasil. Tsunade lalu memberikan kalungnya yang sangat mahal (konon bisa membeli tiga buah gunung) karena kalah bertaruh.
Setelah “pencarian Tsunade”, kemunculan tokoh Tsunade hanya mendapatkan porsi yang sedikit. Namun hal itu bukan berarti dia karakter yang tidak penting. Kurang lebih perannya sama seperti Sarutobi, yang hanya muncul sekilas-sekilas untuk memberi misi, maupun melakukan hal-hal lain, seperti pengoprasian tubuh Lee yang hancur akibat pertarungan dan kemunculan-kemunculan sekilas di Naruto II.
Danzou
Terlahir sebelum Konoha berdiri, Danzou adalah salah satu sesepuh yang mungkin merupakan sedikit dari saksi mata berdirinya Konoha Gakure. Besar kemungkinan Danzou masuk akademi Konoha seangkatan dengan Sarutobi Hiruzen yang kelak akan menjadi Sandaime Hokage. Dikatakan bahwa dimasa lalu, Danzou adalah saingan dari Hiruzen dalam meraih gelar Sandaime Hokage. Fakta ini saja sudah menunjukkan bahwa Danzou adalah orang yang sangat percaya diri akan kehebatannya sehingga berani bersaing dengan seseorang yang dijuluki Profesor kala itu.
Walaupun bukan Hokage, namun Danzou memiliki kedekatan hubungan dengan Go Ikenban yang tak lain adalah teman satu tim dari Hiruzen. Lewat Go Ikenban yang memiliki kakuatan sebagai dewan pertimbangan desa, Suara Danzou terkadang mau tak mau di dengar oleh Sandaime Hokage.
Sepak terjang Danzou makin diperhitungkan di Konoha setelah mendirikan Neyang merupakan cabang dari ANBU. ANBU yang seharusnya berada dibawah komando Hokage langsung kini terpecah. Pada akhirnya Ne berhasil dibekukan, namun sisa-sisanya masih loyal pada Danzou bahkan Ne masih merekrut anggota.
Di masa perang.Danzou yang taichou ANBU memimpin pasikan ANBU Konoha dalam rangka menjalin kerja sama dengan Ame Gakure. Suasana politik yang memanas di Ame Gakure dimanfaatkan Danzou. Organisasi pimpinan Yahiko yang makin mendapat simpati dijebak atas idenya hingga berujung pada kematian Yahiko. Danzou melakukan ini dengan perjanjian tertentu agar hanzou mau menjadi sekutunya jika danzou menjadi Hokage kelak.
Pengaruhnya yang kuat sekali lagi dibuktikan dengan berhasilnya Danzou mendesak Sandaime Hokage menjatuhkan perintah pada Uchiha Itachi untuk membantai Klannya sendiri. Itachi dengan berat hati menuruti perintah ini.
Saat agresi militer Suna dan Oto berakhir, Itachi mendatangi Danzou. Itachi mengancam pada Danzou agar ia tidak berbuat sesuatu yang buruk pada Sasuke. Itachi melakukan ini karena Sandaime Hokage yang berjanji melindungi Sasuke telah gugur dalam agresi militer ini.
Danzou tampaknya banyak berhubungan dengan shinobi hebat. Saat mendengar Naruto akan dikirim dalam misi menemui Orochimaru, Danzou berhasil menekan Godaime Hokage melalui Go Ikenban agar menerima orang suruhan Danzou dalam misi. Seorang anggota Ne berbakat dipilih Danzou. Orang itu diberi nama kode Sai.
Sai akhirnya ditempatkan dalam tim Kakashi yang tanpa Kakashi. Danzou memberikan misi khusus pada Sai untuk memberikan surat kerjasama pada Orochimaru dan memberikan database Shinobi Konoha pada Orochimaru. Sai juga diberi misi lain yaitu membunuh Sasuke. Namun belakangan Sai gagal membunuh Sasuke.
Kedekatannya dengan Ame Gakure masih berlanjut. Seorang mata-mata dari Ame Gakure bernama Tatsuji terbukti bekerja untuknya. Konoha yang minim data tentang Ame Gakure sempat mencurigai Ame Gakure berada dibalik kasus pembantaian beberapa desa di Hi no Kuni. Belakangan diketahui bahwa pembantaian desa ini adalah pengalihan oleh Furido. Namun Godaime Hokage bertindak cepat dengan memerintahkan pasukan ANBU berjaga-jaga di perbatasan Hi no Kuni-Ame no Kuni.
Pasukan ANBU yang memergoki Danzou dengan mata-mata dari Ame segera menangkap keduanya dan membawanya ke ruang interogasi.
Saat invasi pain ke Konoha berlangsung, Danzou membunuh katak yang menjadi informan bagi Fukasaku. Hal ini agar Naruto tetap berada di di Myobokuzan. Kemudian danzou mengumpulkan anggota Ne bersembunyi di ruangan bawah tanahnya. Menunggu invasi Pain selesai.
Invasi Pain berakhir dengan hancurnya Konoha dan keadaan kritis menyerang Godaime Hokage. Rapat darurat bersama Hi no Daimyou digelar. Danzou berhasil meyakinkan Daimyou untuk mengangkatnya menjadi pejabat sementara Hokage sampai pemilihan Hokage digelar.
Pada rapat 5 Kage yang digelar di Negri Besi, Danzou dicalonkan Mifune untuk memimpin aliansi 5 negri besar dalam memerangi Akatsuki.

Poor Junpei. He has had plenty of time to ponder his affections for Mizuno, and suddenly he has so much more on his plate – First cats needing his help as part of his curse, and then all sorts of trouble with Kanako… whatever next? Needless to say, episode three builds up Junpei’s ever-increasing “harem” yet further. This time around, he finds himself spending time with Chizuru Mochizuki, a part-time postal delivery person and college student.
Anyhow, As Junpei helps to show the geographically deficient Chizuru around, so he finds himself bombarded with requests for help from various cats, and worse still caught in compromising positions by both Kanako and Mizuno. Yes, it’s all very typical and cliché for this kind of anime, but I have to admit that the vein of humour running through the episode was actually half-decent and got a few laughs out of me, so I can’t really fault it too much for that.
Come the end of that day with Chizuru, Junpei reflects upon how he met Mizuno, giving us arguably be far the funniest scene from this series thus far, as well as how to clear up any misunderstandings about what she saw. Good luck with that while Kanako is around though..
I think the phrase “clichéd but quite funny” probably sums up this episode perfectly – Yes, we’ve seen it all before a billion times, and indeed we’ve seen it done better elsewhere, but some good lines of dialogue and predictable yet amusing scenarios somehow contrived to save the day and make this the best episode of Nyan Koi! thus far, which in turn makes for a decent piece of entertainment in its own right. Like so many of this season’s offerings, it isn’t a keeper, but it’s really pretty good for passing the time on a cold Autumnal evening. Can’t wait for episode 4!
Well, Fairy Tail only just aired a couple of days ago and I also only just around to looking at the first two episodes of Yumeiro Patisserie, hence the delays on these being reviewed.
Anyway, I’ll do this first up:
Fairy TailWell, this was a nice introduction. Its the first opening episode that actually managed to impress me since Nyan Koi so far this season. We meet Lucy, whom has fangirl joygasms over the Fairy Tail guild. A guy pretends to the so called ‘Salamander’ from the Fairy Tail guild, wooing girls with his magnetism magic. However, turns out he’s a slave trader. Fortunately, the actual ‘Salamander’, Natsu, happens to be in town (you guessed it, its our pink haired protagonist). However, his amazing entry ends in failure because Natsu gets seasick. Lucy uses her celestial summoning magic by summoning Aquarius, but apparently her control of her summons sucks, as Aquarius is a bit short with her and tries to drown everyone. However, this does put the ship back on dry land, allowing the real Salamander to demonstrate his Draconic Tactical Nuclear magic. Explosions and Lulz occur.
As expected, our protagonist, Natsu, seems fond of destruction (maybe he really is related to Lina Inverse?!). However, he is also apparently extremely suceptible to motion sickness and seasickness which is his excuse for being poor for the first two thirds of the episode (and hey, its actually handled in quite a funny way, so its okay). Its also redeemed by his later performance as he shows his mastery of various draconic aspects of firey power. (CG flames galore!)
Its brainless chaos at the moment, but it was fun. If a plot picks up shortly, it could be a great anime, so I’m interested in this. Some caps:

Running away from the town guard is part of the job description for a fire mage. Well, it is when you manage several houses worth of collateral damage in a few punches.
Yay, an anime covering my favourite cooking passtime. That is to say, making sweets. Cinnamon Vanilla biscuits are my speciality, but I also make a mean cheesecake. Though you know something is wrong if you start to take recipe advice from an anime, I suppose. LOL. Anyway, this played out mostly as expected, though it had a slower pace than anticipated. In a way, I’m kinda glad I did episode 1 and 2 together. They do make a bit of a set. The anime follows Ichigo, a girl who looks like she fell here from Gakuen Alice (I wonder if its the same artist, actually, they look strikingly similar). She is remarkably normal except for her ability to eat cake. Which is superior. Yeah.
Apparently, this has fostered an immensely sensitive sense of taste in her though, which she inherits from her grandmother, who was a world class sweet chef. She impresses a teacher from the St. Marie vocational school for Sweets, and enrols there. Unfortunately, she has no actual practical cooking experience and screws up under pressure (especially since she is put in the top class). However, with a new determination, she tries practicing and makes a wish to the Sugar Fairy Queen. To her surprise (the wish was mainly out of desperation!) a fairy called Vanilla is summoned and, after a spartan training regime until she gets her dessert right, then becomes her partner to become an amazing Sweet Chef.
This is cute. I like a bit of cute from time to time. As I’ve already said, the art style is suspiciously like Gakuen Alice, an anime which was also cute and full of nice fuzzy feelings (but also a surprisngly decent on the action and cute romance front). It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out, at least. Anyway, caps:

Even though I like making dessets, I would not want to be a ‘Prince of Sweets’, thankyou. Thats a kind of embarassing title…

Also, theres the LOL evident in the fact that the Fairy is called Vanilla and she is called Ichigo (’Strawberry’). Strawberry Vanilla, a lovely combo attack for all ages!

Anyway, The World Ends With You has been taking up most of my time this weekend (without spoiling much, all I wanna say is WTF and Joshua is SO annoying) along with yesterday/partly today’s X-Men movie marathon including X-Men, X2 and Wolverine. (There is no X3 and I have no idea what you are talking about.) But seriously, they are a great bunch of movies. It was my first time seeing Wolverine so it was really cool seeing all the little connections here and there and it had a great cast as well but as we all know, it has a sad ending… but it’s still a good movie. I enjoyed it
So my plan right now is to share some of my thoughts on first episode of the sequel of Darker Than Black! So basically, BEWARE.

Right off the bat, the animation looked fabulous. It definitely did not disappoint. It was also a nice refresher to see them talk about the stars, seeing as that’s pretty important and it reminded me of some of the unanswered questions that were left after the first season. Anyway, it was also nice to see April back in all her colours and also interesting to see the continuation of month/date codenames. (I guess they assume there will never be more than 366 of them alive at one time in their group? lol) And it was really cool how April starts this off with some stats.
The smoke exhaled from cigarettes is more toxic than the smoke inhaled. Inhaled smoke has 5.3 to 43 nanograms of the carcinogen, dimethylnitrosamine. While on the other hand, second hand smoke has 680 to 823 nanograms. Secondhand smoke has 11 times the amount of quinoline compared to inhaled smoke. That’s about 18,000 nanograms.

At this point, this is when the logo kicked and so did what I thought was going to be the opening theme song and animation.
But no.
This was all we got. Well this changing colours. But I preferred the blue one the best.
The beat sounded so cool and i was getting into the groove and they totally ruined it! If I had to say something bad about this episode, it was that there was not opening song and animation. I kind of understand why since it probably shows Hei and Yin and people who have yet to be introduced at this time… but it was still kind of annoying. Especially with that tease of the song for a good 10 seconds. Music is important to me!
Anyway, the episode focuses around this girl Suou and her twin brother Shion (which took me forever to get because in my head, I already know male characters named Suou and female ones named Shion and never the other way around, so this didn’t even occur to me… I need to realize a lot of Japanese names are unisex.) who seem to be at the heart of this problem. And seeing as this series will only be 12 episodes long, it is likely this will simply be one arc mainly about these twins which should be interesting. There are lots of crazy things you can do with siblings, particularly twins, in a story.
I was pretty surprised so many people got killed off in the first episode. Like April and Mao! Aww… cats are just too awesome. I was also kinda sad there wasn’t much Hei in this episode. And when he finally showed up…

Looks like the next ep will show us what will happen between the two seasons since he’s still got shortish hair when he’s a bum… interesting.

The second season of Darker Than Black starts with the introduction of two new characters. Two years ago in Siberia, twins named Suou and Shion stared up at the night sky watching the meteor shower with their father until a huge meteorite crashed onto them. Shion turned into a Contractor due to that.
At first, when I heard that we were going to have new main characters instead of focusing on Hei, I didn’t really like it. The first season had the same concept. Where in each arc we would have different main characters and Hei was somehow connected into their lives. After season one, I would have rather liked a second season with Hei as the lead. Without Hei as the lead, we don’t get as much of a connection to him. I did really liked the first season of Darker Than Black, but Hei seemed to be very distant to me. It was more like they were talking about the Contractors in general than being specific about Hei. That was one of the things that bothered me for Darker Than Black. I hope Hei gets more of a meaning in this season.
Two years later in Vladivostok, April from MI6 meets up with the new agent August 7 a.k.a. Magician in a bar. August 7 tells her that the FSB will be doing a house search because of some leaked information.
Seeing April all alone, makes me miss the antics of November 11. He made everything seem so suave. This magician guys looks interesting. Well, that’s actually because of his nickname. Looking to see what magic tricks he performs in this season.
Now in the present with Suou. She is taking pictures outside in the snow and happens to stumble upon a confessing scene between her friends, Tanya and Nika. She gets it all on camera.
LOL how red their faces were was hilarious. Anyway, I really like the voice actor who is doing Suou. Kana Hanazawa’s other works include Nadeko Sengoku from Bakemonogatari and Zange from Kannagi.
Then we get to see what Suou’s life is like.
Didn’t really interest me much. I’m going to be skipping some parts of the first episode in this post.
Hei appears finally! After the FSB came and tried to get Shion because he’s a contractor, April and Suou run away but they end up meeting with FSB agent Goran. He is also a contractor who is able to run at fast speeds. April manages to defeat him, but then gets tangled with wires around her neck. She tries to save herself but ends up dying while Suou stands their in shock as the mask drops revealing BK201.
Could the music be more annoying when Hei appears? Too bad that Kanno Yoko, the person who did the music for the first season, isn’t doing it for the second. All the music in the episode didn’t really fit much like in the first season.
The moment I’ve been waiting for throughout this first episode has finally arrived. I couldn’t be more happy Let’s have more Hei screentime in the next episode, please!

Yuuki es el hermano menor, en el vemos reflejado la inocencia y chispa de la infancia; ellos quedaran alejados de su familia, ya que cuando ocurre el terremoto ellos se encuentran en Odaiba, en una exposicion de robots.Ahora tienen que regresar a casa, para reunirse con sus padres, claro con ayuda de chica llamada Mari Kusakabe que sera como su protectora a lo largo del viaje.

En el sentido de animacion, las escenas de desastre son detalladas (como cuando el puente cae), asi como el realismo con respecto al sentido de desastre (Tokyo parece atacado por un angel, -ok, no-).

Sorry I’ve been gone sooooo long! But there has been a flood around my area, like I said before…. two/three weeks ago? I’ve kinda had also taken a short break from the manga beacuse of the storm, ya know getting resetled and all… but the deadline for my manga sumbmission is in about a week, not even close to done! unfortunately… so I said on the websites fourms that I would have to skip the november issue unfortunately. Besides what I mentioned I’ve been really updating my Anime blog like crazy(none of the series are owned by me!) mainly because the new anime season has started… So that’s my situation, and everything is pretty much 2 weeks behind, with my computer being down for that week, and the flood shutting off our power for about a week.
So no I haven’t abandoned the blog!

Tras 18 meses de inactividad por cuestiones de salud, el pasado jueves anunció a través de su blog que volvería a coger los lápices, aunque su intención es hacerlo de forma paulatina hasta alcanzar su nivel, y lo hará empezando por Tokyo Style, serie que Glénat consideraba conclusa… veremos como afecta esta decisión a la edición española.
In questi giorni si discute aspramente sulla libertà di informazione nel nostro paese. Sabato prossimo a Roma ci sarà la manifestazione organizzata dal FNSI, il sindacato unitario dei giornalisti. L’aspetto che più colpisce è l’eterogeneità dei partecipanti, non uno o più colori politici ma, soprattutto, un alto tasso di senso civico su un aspetto delicatissimo del vivere in un sistema democratico. L’informazione in Italia non se la passa bene, questo è un dato confermato anche dal numero elevatissimo di quotidiani e la scarsità di notizie vere e proprie offerte. Ciò che sta più a cuore è la libertà di poter informare, certo. Ma non basta. Carlo Freccero sul blog di Rai 4 fa luce su un aspetto da non sottovalutare. La questione: poco tempo fa sul quotidiano La Repubblica (uno dei protagonisti del dibattito sulla libertà di informazione) si invocano interventi censori nei confronti della programmazione di Rai 4. Fiction e anime promosse dal palinsesto della quarta rete Rai presente sul digitale terrestre, risultano non adatte al servizio pubblico. La nota pubblicata da Freccero mostra come atteggiamenti conservatori, che in alcuni casi sfociano nella censura vera e propria, provengono dall’ala che si reputa “progressista”. Freccero si chiede provocatoriamente perché le nuove generazioni non trovano quegli spazi per poter interagire con quelle realtà politiche e culturali “di sinistra” e ripiegano invece su Berlusconi? Perché quegli spazi sono occupati da altri, invocare un’azione di censura “normalizzatrice” che appiattisca i contenuti di Rai 4 a quelli degli altri canali del servizio pubblico, sembra voler essere l’ennesima chiusura a riccio nei confronti della realtà. Oltretutto è è evidente la contraddizione di come poter essere in piazza a difendere (e aumentare) la libertà di informazione e poi porre divieti, per altro senza alcuna conoscenza dell’immaginario collettivo attuale. Oggi l’intrattenimento si rivolge sempre più alle serie televisive (e meno al cinema), alla complessità delle narrazioni, ai manga e agli anime, ai contenuti controversi. Perché il servizio pubblico dovrebbe essere escluso a priori? Perché lasciare tutto questo agli altri? Perché non mettersi in gioco? I sostenitori del digitale terrestre sostengono che l’ampliamento degli spazi possa permettere maggiore pluralità nella comunicazione di contenuti, a mio parere la Rai dovrebbe poter sfruttare questa opportunità diversificando la programmazione, aprendo così nuove strade. Ma per ora, la strada intrapresa sembra essere un’altra.
